Full-Time Electrical Assembler & Molding Operator

Join our team in the Winchester Industrial Park, Winsted, CT as a Full-Time Electrical Assembler and Molding Operator. We are seeking a dedicated individual for precision assembly, wire winding, and over molding of various electrical parts. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail and experience with basic hand assembly techniques, including hand soldering.

The position offers a competitive starting wage of $17.00 – $19.00 per hour. Work hours are a stable Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours/week). Dependable transportation is essential. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly of electrical parts to meet quality standards.
  • Operate and monitor wire winding machines.
  • Manage and operate over molding presses for electrical components.
  • Execute precision hand soldering of small parts and components.
  • Assist with various other general hand assembly operations.

Electrical Engineer – Wiring Harness (Commercial Vehicles)

Summary

Dufrane Technologies Electrical Engineers are responsible for developing and supporting electrical wiring harness systems that distribute power and signals across commercial vehicle platforms, including heavy-duty trucks, specialty vehicles, and fleet equipment.

In this role, you will work in collaborative teams across design, manufacturing, validation, and production, taking ownership of harness systems from concept through implementation while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop wiring harness systems for commercial vehicle applications.
  • Create schematics, wiring diagrams, harness layouts, and 2D/3D drawings to support production and validation.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable DOT/FMVSS requirements related to electrical systems, lighting, safety circuits, and vehicle integration.
  • Apply industry standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620 and other commercial/automotive wiring best practices.
  • Select appropriate connectors, backshells, wire types, shielding, and protective coverings based on environmental and operational requirements.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation of harness assemblies using standard electrical test equipment.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and efficient production processes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering, production, quality, and suppliers.
  • Evaluate designs based on cost, reliability, serviceability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support design reviews and present technical findings, test results, and improvements.
  • Develop and maintain internal wiring standards and documentation aligned with commercial vehicle requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in quality, safety, and production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA regulations, including material selection, environmental impact considerations, and proper handling of hazardous substances in manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in wiring harness design or related discipline
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment (continuity, insulation resistance, etc.)
  • Knowledge of harness design and fabrication standards such as:
    • IPC/WHMA-A-620
    • Commercial vehicle/automotive wiring practices (SAE guidelines preferred)
  • Experience selecting connectors, terminals, wire types, and protective components
  • Understanding of grounding, bonding, and shielding in vehicle electrical systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects

Preferred

  • 3+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree
  • Experience with 3D CAD and electrical design tools (e.g., Siemens NX, Capital, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with harness assembly and installation in vehicles
  • Knowledge of SAE, ISO, and FMVSS standards related to vehicle electrical systems
  • Experience with CAN bus, J1939, or other vehicle communication protocols
  • Familiarity with production environments and quality systems (ISO 9001 or IATF 16949)

Electromagnetic Coil & Transformer Design Engineer (BSEE) – Winsted, CT

Job Summary

Dufrane Technologies LLC seeks a skilled and motivated Electromagnetic Designer to join our team in Winsted, CT. You will use your technical expertise in electromagnetics to design, reverse engineer, and provide technical support for the manufacturing of custom coils, windings, small transformers, inductors, and chokes. This role requires a BSEE or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2-5 years of professional design work.

Key Responsibilities (Keyword Optimized)

  • Electromagnetic Design: Design and specify small electric coils, windings, and transformers based on detailed customer requirements.
  • Build-to-Print: Evaluate customer drawings for basic electromagnetic components and provide design expertise to ensure final products meet specifications.
  • Reverse Engineering: Evaluate and reverse engineer existing customer-provided electromagnetic coils and transformers to produce replacement products.
  • Manufacturing & Process Improvement: Apply basic knowledge of winding machines and assembly processes to enhance company manufacturing capabilities.
  • BOM & Sourcing: Create accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manage supplier relationships for new and existing material components.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Construct, test, analyze, and evaluate prototypes, developing specialized testing methods and circuits as required.
  • Technical Liaison: Serve as the prime technical contact for small contracts and provide support to the manufacturing team and customers.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience in electromagnetics design (electric coils, small transformers).
  • Education: BSEE (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) with emphasis on power or demonstrated equivalent industry experience.
  • Specialization: Academic or Industry specialization in electromagnetics is required.
  • Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Soft Skills: Highly self-motivated, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and possessing strong written/verbal communication skills.
